PENKO SAVI is a piece born from a collaboration with Paolo Penko, a jeweler based in Florence, Italy.

Traditional Japanese armor-making techniques meet the artistry of jewelry nurtured in Florence. By intersecting these two cultures and crafts, we have pursued an unprecedented beauty. Its most distinctive feature is the asymmetrical kuwagata crest design. Paolo Penko’s jewelry is scattered across it as if flowers were blooming, creating an original form where splendor and delicacy coexist.

The jewel-like brilliance and floral decorations layered over the powerful silhouette of the armor radiate an elegant yet overwhelming presence. Furthermore, studs created by Paolo Penko have been applied to the helmet bowl and combined with traditional rivets used in Japanese armor.

By harmonizing decorative techniques rooted in different cultures within a single piece, the individuality of the materials, methods, and design is enhanced. PENKO SAVI is not merely a collaboration between Japan and Italy, but a work in which two traditional crafts bring out each other’s beauty and are elevated into a new form of artistic expression.

The dignity of Japanese armor and the splendor of Florentine jewelry. These two aesthetics, seemingly opposite yet harmonious, create a powerful, delicate, and one-of-a-kind worldview.
