Osamu Saruyama

A designer who works in graphic, spatial, and product design, he presides over Guymet Layout Studio. From 1996 to 2019, he ran Saruyama, a store in Motoazabu that sells antique ceramics and tableware, and is still active in a wide range of design genres. He specializes in designs that are simple yet have a strong presence, and while valuing traditional techniques and materials, he creates works that blend naturally into modern lifestyles and are comfortable to use on a daily basis. His works, which are modest yet have a dignified beauty and simple yet deep appeal, are highly regarded as long-loved pieces.
