Matsuba Yuki Ceramic artist Matsuba Yuki continues to create pottery by working with earth and fire in the quiet land of Taishi Town, located between Osaka and Nara. Using the former site of a sawmill that he has been familiar with since childhood as his creative space, he pursues his own unique form of expression while also contemplating music and philosophy.
The works are characterized by their fluctuating shapes, born from the irregular rotation of the potter's wheel and the breath of the maker. Their imperfect forms, which seem to have been left to the laws of nature, are reminiscent of vessels excavated from ruins or pieces of weathered stone. The works, which exude a sense of tranquility and presence born from the power of fire, gently blend into the everyday and deliver a rich sense of space along with their fragrance.
